This month we speak to Ben Gobbi, Head Chef at COCO’s Restaurant which offers quality dining in an informal, relaxed city-style environment. This sleek restaurant is located on the quayside serving locally sourced fresh ingredients and creating well thought out delectable dishes packed with flavour.
What is the best thing about working at Milford Waterfront?
Milford Waterfront has a great sense of community. Everyone has their own markets and interests within their own businesses, which is great for the customer. That does mean that you have to be at the top of your game to stand out from the crowd though, which is always an exciting challenge. Having the Milford Waterfront staff working tirelessly to promote the area is also a bonus and is always greatly appreciated by us.
Is there anything people should know about COCO's Restaurant that they may not know?
We also have a sister restaurant; Coco’s Brasserie in Dale which I help manage. Conceptually we have a few more sharer plates on the menu, but you can also pop by for great fish, and steaks which are all sourced from the best Pembrokeshire producers. We also serve some fantastic freshly prepared pizzas there too!
What has been your favourite day at work and why?
Immediately Milford Fish Festival 2019 sticks out in my mind. It was a big day for me personally as I was doing a cookery demonstration in The Fish Kitchen which went really well. I had also prepared seafood chowder the day before for the Milford Chowder Trail. The team presented and delivered the chowder extremely well and we were crowned the Milford Chowder Trail champions once again. It was a great reflection on the team here at COCO’s Restaurant pulling together to deliver the best experience for the customer.
This sleek restaurant is located on the quayside in a Grade II listed building once used to service the Nantucket whaling ships. COCO's offers flavoursome dishes for lunch and the best of Pembrokeshire produce for dinner 7 days a week in addition to cocktails, coffees, homemade cakes and regular theme nights.
