Things to do in Pembrokeshire

There are lots of fun things to do further afield across Pembrokeshire, including visiting some of the many beautiful beaches here. Some of the most popular beaches in Pembrokeshire include Barafundle Bay, which has been voted as one of the best beaches in the world with its swathes of golden sand and crystal clear waters; and others such as Newgale, Broad Haven and Freshwater West (where Dobby’s grave lies – a must-visit for all the Harry Potter fans!), to name just a few. Nothing beats a beach walk and you’re really spoilt for choice here, perfect for dog walking too! Let’s not forget about Tenby. You’re likely to have heard of this extremely popular tourist destination and its colourful buildings located by the sandy beach – maybe you could enjoy fish and chips and take in the beautiful surroundings around you?

The 186 mile Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is the home of outdoor adventure for all. Some may dare to explore it all in a matter of days, some choose to reduce the route into a series of sections to suit their aims and abilities. If you wish to enjoy stunning views of the sea, cliffs and the landscape further inland, the walk from Stack Rocks to St Govan’s (6.3 miles) is a common pleaser. You may also be lucky enough to spot wildlife such as guillemots and razorbills along the way crammed on the top of the stacks and ledges below. Being the UK’s only coastal National Park, Pembrokeshire’s coastline is a must-visit destination.

Other honourable mentions just a short drive from our luxurious holiday accommodation include the walk from Abereiddi to Blue Lagoon (0.4 miles) which has great coastal views and is one of Pembrokeshire’s best examples of a sea quarry; the walk from the car park at Stackpole Quay to Barafundle Bay (1 mile) which is often likened to a Caribbean beach which is accessible by a half-a-mile coastal walk; and lastly St Davids Head and Carn Llidi from Whitesands Beach (4.6 miles) where you can experience a fantastic photogenic view overlooking Whitesands beach and Ramsey Island in the distance, just a few miles away from Wales’ smallest city, St David’s. There are lots of coasteering opportunities along the Pembrokeshire Coast too for the brave hearted. Did you know coasteering was invented here?

The Milford Haven Waterway is the largest estuary in Wales and one of the deepest natural harbours in the world, perfect for staying entertained by engaging in water-based activities including surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and fishing.

Looking for fun activities to do in Pembrokeshire? No problem! You may wish to strike up some friendly competition with a game of bowling at Pembrokeshire’s only bowling attraction Phoenix Bowl which is based at Milford Waterfront. Just a short walk away, Milford Haven is also home to the Torch Theatre, one of only three building-based producing theatres in Wales and offers over 1,300 shows, films, art exhibitions and live broadcasts annually to audiences in excess of 80,000. An adrenaline-fuelled experience can be had at nationally-recognised theme park Oakwood which will provide a thrill for all, or if you love wildlife, you can get close to over 750 animals including lions, penguins, meerkats and giraffes at the popular Folly Farm Adventure Park & Zoo.
