It may have been a gloomy morning on 16th September, but that didn’t stop dedicated runners coming out to take part in our first 5k charity fun run in aid of Mind Pembrokeshire.

136 runners of all ages and abilities gathered on Mackerel Quay and, following a heart-pumping warm up by Desaree from B-Fit Health & Fitness Facility, the sound of the klaxon saw them head off towards The Harbourmaster.

The route was two laps of a circuit which took runners along Mackerel Quay, then onto the footpath towards Ward’s Yard, up the hill to Vicary Crescent, and back. There were also some junior entrants, and four-legged participants who covered the distance with their owners.

The event was supported on the day by Milford Tritons cycling club with some of the younger members presenting medals as runners crossed the finish line.

Tesco Milford Haven were also supporters, kindly donating water and bananas for all participants, and volunteers from the Port of Milford Haven marshalled the run, to support the event in aid of the Port’s charity of the year.

Activities & Events Coordinator, Natalie Hunt was delighted with the event, and said “It was great to see so many people of all ages enjoying this new event, and to raise over £1,500 for Mind Pembrokeshire. The Port’s charity of the year provides such a vital support service in our local community, and it was great to see the ladies from Mind Pembrokeshire taking part too – a bit of rain wasn’t going to stop them having a great morning! Thanks must go to Milford Tritons, B-Fit and Tesco Milford Haven as well.”
