Having been in the Sail Loft for 20 years, the Waterfront Gallery has been bringing culture to life in Milford Haven for decades. We are very proud to be once again supporting the Wales Contemporary Fine Art Competition, an international open competition that was developed by the Waterfront Gallery in association with Welsh Government.

Wales Contemporary invites artists from all around the world to enter work in 2D or 3D and any subject matter. Accepted mediums include painting, sculpture, drawing, print, ceramic, glass, textile, collage, mixed media, and more.

This year, the deadline for submissions was 19th July, and the gallery has had nearly 2,000 from 42 countries. We are delighted to have supported such a high profile, international, cultural event. The reception announcing the winners will take place at the Waterfront Gallery on 30th September, with the exhibition opening to the public from 1st October until 5th November. This is a fantastic opportunity for visitors to Milford Waterfront to appreciate spectacular artwork from all over the world, with a special sculpture installation unveiled by Patsy Hickman. You can also vote for a winner! There is a public choice category, so be sure to drop by and vote for your favourite! The exhibition will then move on to the OXO Gallery in London.

CEO of the Port of Milford Haven, Tom Sawyer said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Wales Contemporary Fine Art Competition. The Waterfront Gallery is an important cultural asset to Milford Waterfront, and one we are very proud to collaborate with.”

David Randell, Curator and Director at the Waterfront Gallery said, “The Waterfront Gallery is immensely proud to be bringing this prestigious competition to Milford Waterfront again, and of our partnership with the Port of Milford Haven. We particularly appreciate them being our lead sponsor for the Wales Contemporary International Fine Art Competition and subsequent exhibition.”

The submissions will be judged by a selection panel including Rebecca Salter RA, president of the Royal Academy; Morfudd Bevan, Curator of the national collection, the National Library of Wales; and Jill Piercy, curator and writer.
