We regularly feature the people behind the businesses at Milford Waterfront. We speak to everyone from artists and chefs to personal trainers and shop owners to learn about their special skills and talents, their favourite dishes or items for sale, what they enjoy most about working at Milford Waterfront and lots more!

This month we speak to Lee Canny, the Director of CUB3D, an independent clothing brand that opened in 2020 at Milford Waterfront. They are renowned for selling environmentally friendly products both in-store and online. We loved learning about Lee’s beatboxing history (see below)!

What is the best thing about working at Milford Waterfront?

The best thing is probably being able to see the sea from my desk. Another positive is the amount of people that we see passing our shop windows on a daily basis, along with the other businesses on the Waterfront. There’s a great little buzz about the place and we’re looking forward to the summertime and being able to reopen our doors.

Is there anything people should know about CUB3D that they may not know?

We do all of the branding and design work ‘in-house’, we are very creative and hands on, and as well as our independent lifestyle clothing brand ‘CUB3D Apparel’, we also run our digital laser scanning and design engineering company ‘CUB3D’ from an office behind our store.

We have worked all over the world in many different sectors and enjoy the opportunity for travel and adventure that it brings.

Have you got any special skills or talents?

Many years ago, I was heavily involved in the local music scene, promoting and performing at gigs, travelling all over the UK and even into France one summer gigging as a ‘Human Beatboxer.’ I still enjoy beatboxing now, but I don’t perform publicly so much these days.

What is your favourite item at CUB3D and why?

My favourite items have to be our caps. I’ve always loved a cap from a young age, so the fact that I now get to design my own caps is like a childhood dream come true. Just having the opportunity to be creative is probably my most favourite aspect of owning a brand.

What has been your favourite day in work and why?

Every day is my favourite day in work, simply because I enjoy my job so much. I never thought that I would look forward to going to work every day, but I really do.
