After a year that nobody could have predicted, the one thing that we can all agree on is that we could all do with a little bit of extra sparkle in the lead up to Christmas. The Christmas lights have gone up around the town and the Memorial Gardens and Jack Frost is already nipping at our noses, so it must be time to get the Christmas jumpers out, get our Christmas decorations up and turn on the festive tunes.

We’re so lucky in Milford Haven; the community’s Christmas spirit is strong and there is so much going on to light up our town and bring smiles to everyone’s faces, so we just had to share about all of the effort that is going in to making this December really special.

Christmas business window dressing competition

Visit Milford Haven are organising this year’s Milford Haven business window dressing competition and are encouraging businesses from all corners of the town to get involved! Entries from businesses from the town centre, Milford Waterfront, Havens Head Retail Park, Hakin, Hubberston, Thornton, and surrounding areas, are all welcome to take part. To enter, businesses are asked to email Visit Milford Haven, or send a message via their Facebook page by Friday 11th December. Judging will take place by Mayor of Milford Haven, Councillor Terry Davies, and the winner will be announced on Friday 18th December.

Milford Marina annual boat dressing competition

The boat dressing competition at Milford Marina has become an annual tradition for berth holders, as well as those visiting Milford Waterfront in the lead up to Christmas. The 2019 display was quite spectacular and the marina was awash with colour, so we’re all looking forward to seeing what’s in store for 2020! Will last year’s winner, ‘Larus’, triumph again? Or will there be a new winner? It will be up to guest judge, Mayor of Milford Haven to decide on 18th December. Berth holders are asked to confirm with the Milford Marina team if they are participating by 11th December.

Window Wonderland Pembrokeshire

Window Wonderland Pembrokeshire is a new community initiative taking place across the county this December. The organisers of the Pembroke Dock Lantern Parade and Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS) are encouraging everyone to “Light up the Shire” this December. In the absence of community events this year, Window Wonderland Pembrokeshire hope to see lots of windows lit up, to spread the Christmas spirit. The team behind this scheme are asking for photos to be shared on the Window Wonderland Pembrokeshire Facebook page for everyone to see.

Milford Waterfront balcony dressing competition

Seeing the boats lit up for Christmas in Milford Marina has inspired the management companies of the apartment buildings around Milford Waterfront to get in on the Christmas spirit too, so they have written to all of the residents to ask them to add a bit of Christmas sparkle to their balconies! A prize has been donated by Milford Waterfront, and Councillor Terry Davies is also lined up to be the guest judge of this competition on Friday 18th December; he’ll certainly be busy that day!
