What is the best thing about working at Milford Waterfront?
It's a beautiful place to work whatever the weather! There's lots of things for people to do, be it shopping, eating or just enjoying meeting friends for a coffee and a stroll around the marina.
We get to meet lots of different people, from locals to holidaymakers and visitors off the Cruise Ships, so we are lucky to have a very diverse clientele and be positioned in such great surroundings.
Have you got any special skills or talents?
I like to think I'm pretty approachable and honest. My aim is for our ladies to feel amazing in what they're wearing and I always give them my professional opinion on an outfit that I feel does them justice. Our ethos is investment buying, I would rather a customer leave empty handed than sell them an item of clothing that will just sit in their wardrobe! Women of all ages and sizes should feel good in whatever they're wearing, so my job is to find things that flatter their body shape as well as their colouring. I also advise them on how to be creative with an item of clothing, often transforming their look by simply adding a statement piece of jewellery or a scarf. It's all about getting to know your customers and their personality, listening to them and then tailoring outfits that will work within their lifestyles.
What has been your favourite day in work and why?
Every day in the boutique is different as you never know who is going to walk in, we've got some lovely customers both regular and new, and of course getting new stock in is always the good bit!
My all-time favourite day since we opened in November 2017 has to be when a lovely lady visited the boutique with her husband. They were visiting Pembrokeshire for the first time to celebrate her birthday and their 40th wedding anniversary. While the lady was browsing, her husband revealed to me that she had been very poorly lately and as a result of weight loss all of her clothes were now far too big. His wife had lost all her confidence to go clothes shopping and he wanted me to help her find her some suitable items to wear. We had a wonderful couple of hours putting together various outfits, trying new colours and adding accessories and I'd like to think they both enjoyed the experience as much as I did. But the best part of this for me was when he commented that it was lovely seeing his wife enjoy clothes shopping again and that she looked “a million dollars". The look on her face was priceless and said all I needed to know!
I love working with fashion but when I know that just by doing my job, I am making a difference to how a woman looks and feels - well it's just the icing on the cake!
