After months of detailed planning, the day of Milford Haven Beer Festival was finally upon us last Saturday. The volunteer members of Milford Haven Round Table give up their own time each year to organise events to remember for Milford Haven. And, boy… they did just that!

We’d already had a brilliant start to Summer Fest 2019 at Milford Waterfront, with the return of Milford Fish Festival in June attracting around 7,000 visitors for a day of fishy family fun. And, again on the morning of the Beer Festival, the weather was glorious, so we knew it was going to be a great day. It would seem the guests agreed, and they started to arrive as soon as the doors opened at midday!

There was an impressive range of over 30 local craft beers and ciders on offer, as well as soft drinks and a prosecco bar, and delicious food was cooked to order all day by Milford Waterfront’s very own Crow's Nest Cafe and Impasto Pizza Bar. The entertainment kept going all day too, with live music in the marquee, and a DJ on the Pier Head Picnic Area, to entertain the many festival-goers enjoying their drinks in the sunshine. The grand finale of the evening was a set by Sorted Ska Band, which got everyone up and dancing.

There were some unexpected additions to this year’s event too. Guiseppi from Todaro’s brought a pop-up barber shop to the event offering styling, shaping and edges, to help raise funds for Milford Haven Round Table. Gareth Reynolds was also involved, training and raising funds for his Atlantic Dragon challenge, which will see him rowing solo across the Atlantic in December to raise funds for the MS Society. Gareth rowed from 10am to 8pm in the sunshine to raise awareness of the challenge and was rewarded with a well-deserved beer at the end of his 10 hours!

This year’s Beer Festival was widely supported by the local community with sponsorship and support from Milford Waterfront and Milford Marina, and many other local businesses. Some last-minute support from Milford Haven RFC and the Royal British Legion Club Milford Haven, among other local establishments helped to ensure that there was no shortage of beer through the day.

The proceeds from Milford Haven Beer Festival mean that Milford Haven Round Table can yet again put on a spectacular, free Firework Display this year, as well as supporting local good causes in the Milford Haven area through the year.

Next up is the grand finale of Summer Fest 2019Milfood Haven Street Food Festival, which is just over 2 weeks away! With 18 Street Food traders coming to Milford Waterfront on 17th & 18th August, we’re in for a tasty weekend!
